Tabakfabrik Linz brings together creative industries, start-ups and industry in a curated ecosystem that promotes innovation at the intersection of technology, creativity, culture and entrepreneurship. Different players such as startups, designers, institutions, companies and future shapers cooperate. This density generates exchange, accelerates innovation processes and creates spaces for experiments that often have no place in traditional corporate structures.
The creative industries inspire new business models and sustainable transformation, while benefiting from industrial expertise and infrastructure. Tabakfabrik serves as a real-world laboratory for collaborative value creation, where ideas are developed, tested and made marketable.
PIXEL
The Tabakfabrik Linz is one of the oldest steel skeleton buildings in Austria. The original concrete columns define the grid of today’s office space. We call the area between four columns “PIXEL”.
In the factory300 ‘s Strada del Startup, these PIXELs form flexible spaces for start-ups, companies and institutions.
Tabakfabrik-PIXEL is more than just an office: as an actively used space, managed by Tabakfabrik Linz and the City of Linz’s Department of Economics and Innovation, it acts as an interface between the local ecosystem and external partners from industry and innovation.
Residencies for startups and young founders from Austria and the DACH region take place here. Organizations such as WKO, Climate Lab or Austrian Startups dock here with visits and information days. This creates a targeted exchange and strong networking that has an impact beyond Tabakfabrik.

Mission
PIXEL strengthens Tabakfabrik’s bridging function. It enables targeted exchange between the creative industries, technology-driven start-ups and traditional industry – low-threshold, curated and with a clear networking intention.
Landing spot for startups from other ecosystems
Startups from partner hubs receive a one-off workspace at PIXEL for up to five days free of charge. The aim is to actively network with potential customers, industry partners and the local innovation environment. PIXEL thus becomes the gateway to the Tabakfabrik ecosystem.
Network platform for innovation hubs
Cooperation partnerships in the DACH region create a hub-to-hub network with mutual opening of workplaces and structured exchange. PIXEL becomes the hub of this network and strengthens Tabakfabrik’s supra-regional visibility as a location for innovation.
Impulse space for capital, funding and expertise
Investors, funding bodies, institutions and cluster organizations are regularly invited to curated “consultation hours” and impulse events. This creates direct access to funding, programs and strategic expertise – directly in the startup hub.
Strategic added value
PIXEL operationalizes Tabakfabrik’s role as an innovation platform: it acts as a physical microcosm of our ecosystem – open, networked and curated. Here we create targeted points of contact between innovation, the creative sector and industry and promote international connectivity. In this way, we strengthen Tabakfabrik’s visibility as a beacon for collaborative value creation.
