Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this unique place, whose roots go back to the wool factory (1672-1850) and where smoked and chewing tobacco has been produced since 1850. From 1929, the buildings we know today were gradually constructed (architects: Peter Behrens and Alexander Popp). The newly built Linzer Tabakfabrik went into operation on November 12, 1935.
90 years of Smoke & Resonance: A journey through the history of Tabakfabrik Linz
The Linz Tabakfabrik invites you to the exhibition “90 years of Smoke & Resonance”.
Immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this unique place, whose roots go back to the wool factory (1672-1850) and where smoked and chewing tobacco has been produced since 1850. From 1929, the buildings we know today were gradually constructed (architects: Peter Behrens and Alexander Popp). The newly built Linzer Tabakfabrik went into operation on November 12, 1935.
The “Behrensband” on the second floor(start at CASABLANCA, entrance A, elevator or staircase) takes you through nine decades of eventful history.

Weekdays 09:00 -17:00
Saturday: 10:00 – 16:00
Sunday / public holiday: closed
- Visitors of all ages are welcome. The exhibition can be visited with children (accompanied).
- The exhibition is barrier-free (ramp at the main entrance in the CASABLANCA building, then to the elevator to the right).
- There are no fixed guided tours through the exhibition. Please feel free to walk through independently and experience the history of the Tabakfabrik up close at the interactive stations.
